Algebra 2 Summer Prep

If you’re reading this then you are a student, parent, teacher, or administrator who cares about academics.  As related to math, there is nothing that can help a student improve like practicing skills during the summer.  Just like any type of offseason conditioning for a sport, summer prep in math can improve students' abilities exponentially.  While I'm an expert in math now, I've had to work extremely hard at it.  It all started with my father's Algebra prep class that he put me through in the summer of 1993.  While I hated it then, it set up a math foundation for the rest of my life.  If Geometry was the course taken during the 2024-2025 school year, THIS is the summer prep course need.  To sign up or get an outline of the topics to review on your own, click the link below.

This course is designed for students coming out of Geometry and moving into an upper level math class like Algebra 2.  In most cases that's been an entire year off from using their Algebra 1 skills.  This prep course has also been used by students who have had a poor Algebra 1 experience (bad teacher, sick/injured during the school year, or just didn't grasp mastery of the subject).  In addition, students that are going to take a college algebra class can benefit from the course especially if they've taken a year off from algebra.  We actually use this course as the curriculum for an Algebra 2 Prep course during the 2nd semester AFTER students fail Algebra 2A first semester.  They then retake all of Algebra 2/Trig the following school year.  Those students have a ton of success the second time around.  If only those students could have done it during the summer!

Obviously the skills are the reason the student is taking the course.  Gaining those skills are invaluable.  Its like taking a vitamin.  The more you can increase your immune system the better chance you have of staying healthy.  It doesn't mean everything is going to go smoothly the following year.  It just means the student will be in a far better position to learn new material without having to learn old material.  The secondary reasons are just as important as building algebra skills.  Take your pick.  The ability of a student to do things they don't want to do even in the summer.   In addition, the course is fantastic review for the SAT, ACT, or state exam.  Its the reason for the multiple choice questions.  There just isn't a good reason to not practice algebra the summer before an advance algebra level course.

So a teen doesn't want to do it or says they don't need it?  That's an expected response.  There's a difference between want and need.  Teenagers will blend the two into one.  They need to do it.  They probably don't want to do it.  If the student wants to do it because they realize improved skills is a path to success, then that is a student who is mature beyond their years!  My son just completed Algebra 1 in middle school.  He'll be taking this course in its entirety AFTER Geometry next summer.  That's how important I think this is.  I excelled in math because my father forced me to take a summer prep course before Algebra 1 and Algebra 2.  Upper level math was still extremely hard for me.  I can't imagine what it would've been like without my solid algebra skills.

There are three options for the course.  The full course requires about 30 days.  The priority skills about 15 days.  The essential skills about 10 days.  The student can break them up however they want.  Sometimes life happens and you just need to cram a few weeks before when you thought the whole summer would be available.  I get that too.  In that case just do the essential standards.  The purchase includes all 25 skills.  There is a good chance those will be encountered in Algebra 2 during the school year so you'll have an extra review of them if you need it.

Absolutely.  I'm not here to take people's money.  I'm offering this course at a fair price for the time I've put into it.  If you are dissatisfied with any part of the course please let me know and I will try and remedy it.  I can always refund somebody who is unhappy with the course.

Absolutely.  A school site license is my goal.  I'd rather have an entire school pay for a single site license then have one person alone purchase one.  Great math instruction shouldn't just be for those with the means to pay for it.  Need a discount or a free version?  Just ask!!!
